These images of fishing net storage were taken in the old Tallheo Cannery. Owned by the Canadian Fishing Company Ltd (Canfisco) for the better part of the last century, it was a powerhouse operation processing sockeye, coho, pink, chum and chinook salmon into tin cans for shipping around the world. Then ice and refrigeration revolutionized the commercial fishing. It was the death knell for the Tallheo Cannery and it closed down in the 1950s. Today the loft looks like the men hung the nets out to dry just yesterday. It’s a fascinating place. Location: Bella Coola, BC, Canada
