Kate profile bwI’m Kate. An Australian who finds herself living in Las Vegas. Yes, *that* Las Vegas:) I’ve travelled. A lot. At last count is was 98 countries/450+ cities I think, so much of my work is travel related. I don’t do photo journalism myself, but I love the work of Dorothea Lange, Margaret Bourke-White and Vivian Maier. The powerful black and white images these women captured decades ago remain piognant and inspiring to this day.

So as not to duplicate, the big travel image portfolio remains housed at Flickr. So head on over there if you’re looking for some armchair travel (there’s a link at top). You will find iconic tourist destinations such as Portofino (which claims the title “most photographed village in the world” and for good reason). There’s also places you may never have heard of. The island of Jan Mayen in the Arctic Circle for example. More people climb Mt Everest each year than visit Jan Mayen! Blog post images and other derivative portfolios (eg, black and white) are housed on this site.

With so many blogs and photographs available, I thank you for spending a few minutes on mine. If just one of my images brightens your day, I’ll be well pleased! 🙂

  1. That is a lot of countries and cities! I’ve recently bought the book ‘Women Photographers’ (Prestel). Dorothea Lange, Margaret Bourke-White and Vivian Maier are included along with many other gifted photographers. Vivian Maier is a true artist, her work fascinates me. Enjoyed looking at your images, they have indeed brightened my day 🙂

    • Simon, another Vivian Maier fan! So few people recognize her name. Did you see the documentary? Vivian was a talented but rather strange Nd determined lady. You don’t get all those fabulous portraits by being timid! Thanks for browsing and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it:)

      • You’re right Kate, Vivian was very bold and determined when it came to her photography. Enjoyed the documentary but wish we knew more about her … a remarkable woman.
